Another week of Sports Relief and all the rich celebs asking for our money for those in need.

We also have Comic relief, Live Aid concerts and all the other Charity's asking for donations week in and out but, what about the people in the UK needing help:..... The homeless, pensioners, family's living in poverty, children in homes etc.

Just because we live in a developed country, dosent make us all rich and comfortable.

By all means donate if you wish, but not lets forget the British people.

  1. Too d**n true dude! i so agree with you're statement, why do the celebs ask us for money anyway when they already have loads of it they are probably never going to spend but just waste! i donate money to british charities and some other countries charitys. Its like the people in africa, if they hadnt trashed all the english farms over there they would'nt be d**n poor and starved. Tbh i believe thats their own faults, i only donate because of the people that actually didn't do anything worng but have to live in that state. Peace everyone

  2. Before jumping to conclusions, look at the Comic Relief website.  You'll see that they've spent £163m in the UK since 1985.

(by the way, Sports Relief is part of Comic Relief)

  3. A lot of the charity stuff is for british people. charity begins at home - as they say, so i will donate myself £250. Thank you very much

    Your welcome.

  4. Cheeky gits aren't they - have you seen that wannabee Leona Lewis "touring" Africa..with the onion tears wanting our ca£h.and that Multi-Millionaire loonie leftie Annie Lennox - with the HIV t-shirt ..Demanding our hard earned'.. Well Doll's get your purses out .....youz first....   thought not...after all these celebs get more "Expenses" for doing charity Gig's... We are all Taxed and Charitied out...at least wait till the Chrismas Visa bill is a distant memory...till youz start begging again

  5. I always donate, out of principle.

But arghhh it annoys me so much that the celebrities have the nerve to ask us to donate. If they gave the charity, almost 1/1000 of their wealth, we'd have raised much more than we could ever have given. Some of them are so hypocritical!

  6. Yeah in the same week as the Chancellor is going to take more money off us and keep us poor anyway, some wealthy sod is gonna want even more off us. Charity begins at home.

  7. You don't have to donate to the celeb causes if you don't want to. I do my own research and make my own decisions on who I want to donate to.

But you know, if they didn't use their celeb "power" for good, people would complain about that too! But when they DO try to do something good, people also complain. If I was famous, I'd probably try to speak up about causes I believe in as well. I'm trying SO hard to raise awareness on different issues and nobody listens. If I was famous, at least someone might listen and go do some more research.

So that said, I'm glad they're out there trying to raise awareness and money for things they believe in. Good for them! More of us should be doing the same thing.

Yes, people in the UK (and Canada and everyone else's country) need help. So make up your own mind and give to those causes instead of the celeb-fronted causes. They're all good causes and we can't give to EVERY thing out there. Everyone needs to make up their own minds.

  8. People here keep saying "A lot of the money raised...." or "Some of the money..." - well, how about ALL of the money staying RIGHT HERE - looking after OUR OWN PEOPLE.

I was very annoyed yesterday when they kept showing us picture of that Leona Lewis girl crying her eyes out over a load of kids in Africa having to be looked after by their grandparents because their parents died of AIDS. SO WHAT - people over here die of AIDS but I don't recall seeing anyone of her ilk crying about THAT! So yes, let's have OUR money work for US, HERE!

If people are so worried about Africa, they should send boxes of condoms, not money anyway. That way it would cut down on the spread of STIs AND reduce the population thus requiring less food - and all for the cost a the proverbial packets of three.

For all the do-gooders, the thumbs down box is just below !-

  9. A lot of it does go to the UK actually.

Don't donate if you don't want to.

  10. no one says you have to donate or that you can't donate to a UK Charity. Charity may start at home but it doesn't have to stay there.

  11. No one watches a celebrity and says, "Gee, I was going to help homeless people in Britain, but now, because of this celebrity, I'm going to give it to Nigeria!"

You are a very angry person -- why does it bother you that famous people want to do some good? Isn't it better than reading about who has gained weight and who isn't wearing underwear?

And how do you know a celebrity urging donations for an orphanage in Africa this week isn't fundraising for HIV/AIDS patients in the UK next week? Unless you have access to their year-round schedules and bank accounts, YOU don't really know how they spend their time and money, nor what causes they do or don't support.

If you are so concerned with the British people, then please list here all the British charities YOU give to, and why you think others should give to them. Go volunteer as much time as celebrities do to the British charities you are so concerned about. That would do a lot more good than criticizing people for their philanthropy efforts that you don't agree with.

  12. I think that "rich and comfortable" is a relative term.

To a family that lives in a mud hut with a dirt floor, no plumbing or electricity, no means of transportation except by foot, and no job -

the poorest of those in developed countries seem well off.

  13. I would like to see haw much celeb`s give to charity!.

They are the real spongers, they can give more than any of us can!

  14. a lot of money donated to charities is spent on admin, i've heard up to as much as 90% in the case of the ones where people are out asking you on the streets trying to sign up your credit card. with only a small portion actually going to the intended cause.

  15. You really need to check your facts before posting: Sports Relief and Comic Relief both spend money in both the UK and the developing world.

And please don't call them "celebs"... they are sportsmen, actors, presenters, or whatever... don't perpetuate this "celeb" bullshit.

  16. A lot of the money from sports relief and comic relief does go to the UK charities ans communities. I think if you want to donate and can do so then why not?.... giving is better than recieving they say!
