  1. The disorders are not.It is the potential for the disease the deficiency of omega 3 fatty acids that are hereditary. If the mother is deficient so will be the unborn child and she or he will develop a mental disorder before he or she is born.

Omega 3 deficiency causes all of the disorders above including stress and many more illnesses.

Yes they can be cured and prevented for all times with proper dietary habits.

Start the omega 3 diet.I have researched omega 3 acids for 2 years and performed a very successful experiment on myself and few of my volunteer friends.Few months of the omega 3 diet i cured my stress[and/or depression] problems permanently and significantly raised my intelligence, improved memory, sight, reflexes[and many other known and unknown benefits]and without any drugs or supplements in the form of pills.

Take two table spoons of grinded flaxseed[rich with omega 3 and cheap]a day[with a glass of water] and in a few months you will start to notice significant improvement in your mental health[you will become more psychologically stable, among other things].Use a coffee grinder.Whole seeds cannot be digested by the hydrochloric acid in our stomach only grinded seeds.A fact and not a assumption. You have nothing to loose only gain by it.There are many articles on the internet about the omega 3.2 years ago before i started the diet i did not feel so stable or happy how i feel today.

Flax is the best source of ALA omega 3 fatty acid which our body converts to more important fatty acids called DHA and EPA.For the efficient conversion to take place, foods containing a large amount of the following nutrients must be consumed along with the flaxseed:C,B3,B6 [vitamins],zink and Magnesium [minerals].I recommend 3 table spoons of flax with 100 grams[or more if to your liking] of almonds and/or 250g of green peas,1 kiwi every day.[do not take more then 3 table spoons of flax because large amounts can cause intestinal gases which can cause abdominal pain and/or constipation. If three spoons causes abdominal discomfort lower the dosage to 2 table spoons of grinded flax and elevate it to 3 table spoons after your body adapts to high fiber content].The flaxseed itself is not important. The omega 3 that are inside them are.

  2. Nobody knows for sure if the conditions you mention are genetically hereditary. Some say they are, others claim you learn a certain way to handle life from your parents or relatives. Since human beings are pretty complex creatures, my best guess is that the truth lies somewhere in between. That you may inherit a certain sensitivity or an inclination to develop anxiety, depression and/or OCD, but if you get the right upbringing, the symptoms may never appear or be less severe than if you have a really bad childhood.

Children learn how to act and react under pressure from their parents. If the parents are prone to panicking or giving up when things get rough, it's likely that their kids copy their behaviour. It's also a very frightening experience for a kid when their parents flip, which in itself can lead to mental disorders.

As for psychosis and schizophrenia, scientists believe they're hereditary to some extent, but of course not 100%.

Most mental disorders can be successfully treated but if and when life changes, certain symptoms may recur, particularly under stress, like if a child or relative dies, you lose your job or get seriously ill etc.  If you suffer from these disorders, you can learn effective ways of coping with the symptoms and may not need treatment more than once. Others may have to try different methods before they find what's working for them.

Most people have one or a few hangups, like phobias. The most common explanation is that the real daredevils, who weren't afraid of anything, didn't live long enough to procreate. As long as you're able to control your fear and don't let it limit your life, things are cool.

  3. There are all sorts of habits that are hereditary and can easily be triggered by an enviornmental situation.  People share so much within a family, they contain the same DNA, and carry with them certain similarities.  You  can certainly get the diseases you named through DNA, but the question is, do they get triggered by something that happens to a person within their lives, or is it determined from birth.

  4. Depression is not...

Anxiety attacks can run along a paternal/maternal lineage (passed down from father to son, mother to daughter, etc)

    OCD I'm not sure

but there are PLENTY of genetically communicable mental disorders

and unless you change someone's genetic structure you can't rule out they won't be inherited by the offspring

  5. yes i think they can be. But also if youve been brought up in an environment whereby your parents have low self esteem and depression you could begin to mimic such behaviours. thats what happened to me and my sister... everyone in our family never seems to feel good enough.

  6. some mental disorders, such as add are hereditary. However, the three you mentioned above are not.

OCD, Depressiona nd Anxiety can certainly be cured once and for all. How? sorry I don't have a PhD. visit a doctor.

  7. Yes they are hereditary, or at the very least learned from your parents at a young age and you usually have to take pills to counter those disorders. so you are given a daily dose of a druig and then a secondary drug if things start to go really bad, in which case you pop a horse pill that just gets you high and makes you not really care as much. Otherwise, day to day, you are perscribed a pill to help you with daily functionality. hope this helps.

    the heredity argument :

Heredity (genetics): Many mental illnesses run in families, suggesting that the illnesses may be passed on from parents to children through genes. Genes contain instructions for the function of each cell in the body and are responsible for how we look, act, think, etc. But, just because your mother or father may have a mental illness doesn't mean you will have one. Hereditary just means that you are more likely to get the condition than if you didn't have an affected family member. Experts believe that many mental conditions are linked to problems in multiple genes—not just one, as with many diseases—which is why a person inherits a susceptibility to a mental disorder, but doesn't always develop the condition. The disorder itself occurs from the interaction of these genes and other factors—such as psychological trauma and environmental stressors—which can influence, or trigger, the illness in a person who has inherited a susceptibility to it.

Edit: Okay people with the thumbs down, check this out:

Unfortunately, it is not fully known what exactly causes clinical depression. There are numerous theories about causes such as biological and genetic factors, environmental influences, and childhood or developmental events. However, it is

generally believed that clinical depression is most often caused by the influence of more than just one or two factors. For instance, a person whose mother had recurrent major depression may have inherited a vulnerability to developing clinical depression (genetic influence).

No it is not hereditary, however, the physical or psychological markers may exist as a result of genetic factors which predispose a person to developing an anxiety condition.

Compulsions are learned behaviours, which become repetitive and habitual when they are associated with relief from anxiety.

OCD is due to genetic and hereditary factors.

Chemical, structural and functional abnormalities in the brain are the cause.

Distorted beliefs reinforce and maintain symptoms associated with OCD.

Thank you me for being right... now if you read my first answer more closely, I'll explain, There are genetic FACTORS that make us more succeptible to these disorders. Therefore, it is a genetically-linked disorder.

    Thanks.
