Herefordshire v Dorset: Minor Counties Championship 2011 – Match Recap

The hosts had to chase down 117 runs for victory, which they achieved easily in the end, losing just a couple of wickets. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-John-Adshead-c91125 did a fabulous job for his side, as he scored 73 quick fire runs during the chase.
Dorset’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-Charles-Hicks-c93339, won the toss and decided to bat first. He would have expected his team to post a decent total, but ended up being disappointed. The visitors only managed 213 runs in their outing. The pitch was good for the batsmen and the team
should have at-least scored more than 300.
The start for Dorset was terrible, as they lost three wickets for just 10 runs on the board.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Williams-c41467 put together 80 runs for the third wicket partnership, rescuing their team from disaster. The latter was unable to carry onto the start he got to his innings and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 23 runs
to the total.
Cowley made most of the good batting conditions and ended up with 62 runs in his outing with the help of 11 boundaries.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Leslie-Park-c50909 was the only other player to offer some resistance, as he collected 35 runs for his side. However, the team was dismissed for 213 in the end, as they failed to cope with the menacing bowling of Callum Stewart, who took six
wickets.
The hosts had the upper hand and batted well to take a solid 69-run first innings lead. Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Benjamin-Robert-William-Stebbings-c47722 gave a solid start to their side, scoring 88 runs together. They got out after collecting 49 and 41 in their respective outings.
Middle-order players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Walker-c95903 also played with a lot of maturity, collecting 61 and 60 in their respective outings, guiding their side to 282.

problems for the opposition.

There was a little nervous moment for the hosts, as they lost one wicket early. However, Exall and Adshead put together 108 runs for the second wicket partnership. They collected 41 and 73 in their impressive knocks.
Masoor http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 picked up one wicket in the innings, but failed to cause any serious problems for the hosts, who won the match comfortably in the end.
