Heritage conservation?

What should one do for the conservation of natural as well as man made heritage sites in india?

The main thing is profit. You can see in India those sectors are very well performing which creates a huge profit e.g. IT.

If we create profit from these heritage site by advertising its features & important on net or in magazines, if we could provide better facility for tourist who will come there by reading these advertisement & also we could provide profitable business by that tourism for local people who surrounded that site then these people would take care these sites themselves .because it will become their business.



I am saying this because I don’t expect anything from any government in India. We should ourselves take care of our India.

well to start wid  v mst treat them as actual heritage & not jst another piece of history. the next imprtnt thing wud b- to b vocal that's to say not let other ppl harm them bcoz there r vry few ppl in india who realise there imprtnce.

I live in a property which was made 125 years back by my ancestors and it is one of the most beautiful Haveli of its kind with Marble artifacts and italian tiles on the facade. Our family has been trying to protect it but the biggest problems we face is rising cost of maintainance and peoples mentality.

Yes, second one - peoples mentality - is a huge problem. For us Indians anything we are not directly associated is not given any importance or value. People try to break the marble work, take out tiles and what not. Since almost 60% part is vacant due to diffrent reasons people get a chance to go in some how and damage the property. Now we are converting the whole thing as heritage hotel but problem remains same for other properties and people are defacing them for fun.

First thing we need to do is to educate our people that by damaging or defacing our heritage we are actually doing a national loss and this loss is not of any personal nature only.

Secondly we need to use these properties in such a way that maintainance cost starts coming out and above it we start saving something. Nobody is interested in something which is eating money but not giving any return.

It is same with natural heritage also, we need to understand that all our heritage are national property and we should save tham.
