Question:

Hermans tortouise?

i was wonderig if a small hermans tortouise would be ok in a 2 ft x 1ft x 1ft tank for a few months until my snake moves into a bigger terranium then the herman would then move into the old terranium . would this be ok or not ? please give reasons for your answer and any additional information plz !

  1. it should be ok, just so long as it isnt in it for too long and you take it out often - tortoises need exercise too - and also, how big is the hermans tortoise?

    coz if the tank is too small it wont be able to thermoregulate by moving from the hot side to the cool side  =(


  2. no a tortoise will not be OK in a tank, tortoises should not be kept in a tank as they are more geared towards height rather than the floor space a tortoise needs, tanks also do not have enough air flow which is what a tortoise needs they also tend to be too humid and damp a tortoise needs a fairly dry environment to stay healthy and even for a small tortoise the tank you describe is too small the tortoise will not be happy even for a small time her is a few sites that will show you good tortoise accommodation and how to build a tortoise table http://www.slowcoach.org.uk/slocare.html
