  1. If you are a true hermaphrodite (having genital male and female parts) you are probably not going to be fertile.  A hermaphrodite is a normal person in every respect except for the differentiation of genital organs.  All embryos in the womb start out looking like females, but males become "male" a little later in embryo development.  Sometimes things don't go completely right.  It is, unfortunately, a birth defect that makes you feel very sad and insecure, although it should NOT make you feel that way.  It is just like any other birth defect.

Some hermaphrodites have "streak gonads" which don't really function properly at all hormonally.  But as with any of the disorders known as "ambiguous genitalia" it is important to do a chromosomal analysis.  What do your genes say?  Do you have mosaicism?

You need to see a specialist, the best ones for sexual surgery exist at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

Please do not feel like a "freak".  No other body parts are abnormal.  Yes, you have a birth defect, but no, you do not need to be afraid to see a doctor.  You can have treatments to help you to live as normal a sexual life as possible, even though you might not be able to have kids, you can possibly adopt.  You should also see a therapist to help you sort out your feelings and anxieties.

Write down all of your questions.  Get a referral to the best possible doctor to help you.

Yes, penile implants exist to make you "larger"

The vaginal area can be removed.

There are even t******e implants that you can have surgically implanted that look and feel exactly like "normal".

So, bottom line is, you can pretty much get a more "locker room" normal look for youself if you go to the right surgeon.  But again, the sperm might not be present or fertile.  That does not mean you can't have s*x, but only that you probably won't be able to have kids.

Sorry you are going through this, I am sure it does not seem fair, however you are not the only one.  No doctor is going to laugh at you or think you are a freak.  Any doctor who would "laugh" at a birth defect would not be fit to have an MD degree.

  2. I don't know much about this, much less can give you good advice ... but neither do most people on Internet sites like this.  The dangerous people are the ones who *think* they know about things like this and give you a lot of BAD advice.

I found an article in SFGate.com about new guidelines for intersex babies.   (Note: even the word 'hermaphrodite' is avoided by people who know about this ... which is why I'm a bit upset at the lack of information you seem to be getting from your parents and doctors.)

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...

I noticed a quote by Cheryl Chase, founder of the Intersex Society:

"The key problem, she said, occurs when people decide that ``sexual ambiguity is shameful.''   That happened in her own case, Chase said, recalling a confused childhood when she looked like a girl but felt like a boy, following mysterious operations she said were never explained to her."

That sounds like exactly what you are experiencing.

You need to find someone, an adult, you can trust, if not your parents.  Someone who will both respect your confidence, and steer you towards some real information.

    Good luck.

  3. Don't be afraid to go to the doctors or talk to your parents - they're there to help you.

  4. And I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you have come to the wrong place to get an accurate answer about your situation.  The only person who  can answer this question for you is your DR.  Do an internet search for someone who has experience in this field.  You might start with one who does s*x change surgeries.  These people are professionals and will not mistreat you.  In order for you to receive good care and live the best possible life you must go to the pros.

The MD can also do a sperm count to see if you are producing sperm.
