Alright so yesterday I picked up my little Hermit crab Manney to put him in his sleeping log. But when I picked him up I saw his claw on the sand. I have another crab called Monte thats in the the same 5.5 gallon cage as Maney. We brought him home from the pet store 2 days ago. I looked if Manney had got into a fight with Montey but Montey looked fine. Besides he had been in the same spot relaxing all day. I just got their 5.5 gallon cage 2 days ago while buying Monte. I think Manney lost his claw because he is in a bigger cage with a new frined and all this new stuff he probobly was terrified. So I think he lost his claw because of stress he was'nt walking around much the other day he lost his claw that made me suscpicous.

But I did some research and it said to keep him in a dark place that was hot and humidified for a while so he can rest. He was really not very active today is that normal the second day they loose their claw. Is there anything else I should do for him

  1. This may sound odd, but my hermit crab's claw fell of and she died. I dont want to worry you, but im sure he could be fine

  2. Sometimes crabs loose claws because of stress (monty) or because the temperature is to low or to high. Seperating the crabs is a good this to do. Keep manny away from monty for a little while. Also, YES the claw grows back but it takes a long time. Make sure our crabs all have water and food and everything. And I dont know if you know this but dont only feed them hermit crab food also feed them grapes, cereal, meat, and bananas.
