Hermit crab or leopard gecko for a fun pet?

Question

i want another pet(i already have a ball python)which pet would be more cheaper to take care of(hermit or leo)i have heard all about leopard geckos,but i do not know that much about the hermit crabs,but my uncle had one and he said they are fun pets......so are hermit crabs really fun cool pets?(i know about the leos already)......thank you

I once "hermit sat" for a friend's daughter.  I was given feeding instructions.  The crab was certainly easy to take care of.  I can imagine it is VERY inexpensive, too.  But boring.  Of course, it turns out when my friend came to get the crab we discovered I had actually been sitting a DEAD crab all week long, but still.  Not much action, those crabs.

My 11 year old son has a pair of Leopard Geckos.  They are NOT cheap (we got his pair and whole set up off of Craigslist for $80, though - sweet deal!) but they are fun.  I have 4 little boys and feeding time is with noses pressed against glass.  

The lizards are nice, too.  They like my boys, are fun to hold, colorful, etc.  Its was so cool when the female laid eggs.   If one of my boys gets hurt playing and cries, the geckos look to see what's going on.  Neat pets but much more expensive than a hermit crab so consider your budget.

LEPORD GECKO FOR SURE!!

My friend had a hermit crab and it just sat in its tank all day and didnt move much. the most fun she got out of it was getting to paint its shell everytime it moved into a new one.  it ended up dying while trying to squeze out of its old shell......... he suffercated

well hermit crabs arent so fun there pretty boring so i say lepord gecko there easy to care for and really fun to play with!

Hermit crabs, and fun pets should not be in the same sentence.  Lol, come on they don't do anything, look at the name of them "HERMIT" they are literally hermits.  If you want a fun pet, get a dog or a cat. I have had experience with hermit crabs, and frankly they are boring.

a hermit and all the set up you need will be much cheaper then the leo. I have hermits and i would not really say they are "fun". they don't have any personality, don't do anything funny, just kinda sit around. I think i would suggest the leo.

I will tell you about hermit crabs because i have no idea about the leo.. hermit crabs actually prefer to be kept in colonies..not saying you would have to go buy a ton of them but you shouldnt keep just one by himself..the care for them is realitively easy, you just have to keep their cage damp, change food and water every few days, and maybe change your substrate every couple of months..so not much to keeping them..you can get crabs that are more active, but for the most part they are nocturnal, and stay burried most of the time..my crabs are funny, because i will straighten everything up in their tank, and when i get up in the morning it looks like a tornado has blown through.. shells scattered every where and stuff..you can handle them and the more you hold them the less afraid they will be but true the usually will just try to run from you or retreat in your shell..so i would not say they are the most fun animal..but they are cute..but not the coolest=)

I would recommend the leo because I've owned hermit crabs before. They aren't fun at all. They sit there and they don't move. At least you can play with a leo. If you tried to pick up a hermit crab, they would just go into their shells and stay there.

Yes, they are cheaper to care for then the leo but very boring. So I would go with the leopard gecko. They would be a lot better and way more active then the hermit crabs. =]

ok i wood def say a leopord gecko they are some much funner b/c hermit are much more boring i have had hermit craps and my best friend has a leapard gecko and its really fun i think that they are way cooler 2 b/c they have a kewl pattern 2 them and hermits are just a shell but u can have them hand painted in any design u want but i wood still say u should still get the leopard gecko

the hermit crab would be cheaper to take care of but keep in mind it is also REALLY boring. you should definitely get the leopard gecko
