Hermival to compete in the Group 1 Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas at Curragh
French trainer, Mikel Delzangles is pleased to announce that his charge, Hermival, is on his way to Ireland to compete in the Group 1 Abu Dhabi Irish 2,000 Guineas at Curragh, on 26th May, 2012.
The son of Dubawi, out of mare Bibi Karam, stirred some interest among the punters in light of his performance at Newmarket. As a result, he is likely to enter as a favourite in this upcoming event.
The three-year-old colt finished third in the Group 1 Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes on 5th May, 2012, which he entered with a 16-1 shot.

With rider Gregory Benoist on his back, he delivered a respectable performance, but missed the victory by a margin of 2 ½ lengths to winner, Camelot.
The trainer was delighted with his performance, but sees room for improvement. He feels that the young runner will be comfortable on this track as he can easily cover the 1 mile distance.
Mikel Delzangles referred to his performance at Newmarket and commented:
"It was a very good run at Newmarket. It was only his third start and he did very well. Gregory (Benoist, jockey) thought it was definitely a disadvantage (being on the far side) as he had to take the lead as the other horses were a bit tired.”
The runner has been going through comprehensive work-outs, and everything seems to be in order as he has recovered from Qipco 2,000.
The trainer said:
"He's definitely going to travel (to Ireland). He did his last piece of work on Monday and everything went well. He's been doing very well, he recovered very quickly (after Newmarket) and I hope he's improved a bit.”
In his short career-span, he has competed in three starts, sealed one with a victory and finished third in the remaining two.
Whelped on 23rd April, 2009, the colt started his career in a brilliant manner as he competed in the Prix As D’Atout at Saint-Cloud on 12th November, 2011, where he responded well to jockey, Gregory Benoist’s command
and notched the victory, a short-neck over the race favourite, Lunayir.
