Hernandez stands first in Swindon Monkey 509ER - Heat 2
Droopys Rosemary was expected to waylay her half-brother, Hernandez, in the second heat of Swindon Monkey 509ER, held at Swindon on Wednesday, May 9th. However, C. Stringer’s trainee performed to his reputation and bagged the victory quite comfortably.
Hernandez, who recently reached the second round of the Derby, was given the highest starting price of 6 to 5. Since he displayed three wonderful performances last month, the bookies were not reluctant to declare him favourite.
After grabbing an excellent win in early April, the dashing hound kept performing well and demonstrated a couple of fine shows at Wimbledon.
However, he narrowly missed the gold medal on both occasions. Everybody was expecting him to bounce back and the maverick runner did not let his supporters down.
Ahead of the start, Droopys Rosemary was considered as a huge threat to Hernandez. D. Mullins’ trainee performed decently during the past couple of weeks. At the end of last month, she registered a comprehensive triumph at Romford, beating Pretty Chilly by three and a half lengths.
She ran equally well in the subsequent contest, but remained unlucky. On May 04, Droopys Kewell’s daughter finished second behind Get On Paris.
Despite her wonderful stats, the punters did not trust her blindly, because it was her first journey at Swindon. The b***h failed to perform well under pressure and as a result, finished fifth on the table. On the other hand, Hernandez was flawless right through the event.
His early pace helped him get a decent lead in the beginning. After establishing his dominance, he made no mistake and retained his advantage till the winning post.
The July-09 son of Droopys Kewell stopped the clock in just 30.28 seconds. None of his opponents was able to trouble him, as he was 2¼ lengths ahead of the runner-up, Droopys College.
Although Droopys College could not challenge the winning hound, he beat rest of the line-up comprehensively. Covering the area in 30.46 seconds, the J. Burridge-trained sealed the second place by 3¾ lengths.
The third place went to Droopys Gizmo. The white and brindle dog was lucky to finish among top three position holders, as Omega Mick missed the spot only by a neck’s distance.
