Hernanes to miss match against Cesena because of stress
Serie A leaders Lazio get set to take on Cesena on Wednesday 10 November, but they will be without their star Brazilian midfielder, Anderson Hernanes de Carvalho Viana Limaas (known by most as Hernanes). Head coach
Edy Reja has confirmed he will give the 25-year-old some time to rest. Hernanes, who has yet to miss a single league match this season, is said to be suffering from stress following Lazio's 2-0 loss to crosstown rivals Roma
over the weekend – a match in which the Brazilian was largely ineffective.
"Hernanes is well physically, but he needs to switch off for now because he is nervous. He is stressed out because everyone is watching him and he can feel this attention," Reja told reporters.
Hernanes has two goals in Serie A so far this season and has been instrumental in helping Lazio, who finished a dismal 12th in the Serie A last season, to climb to the top of the table in Italy for the moment. Despite the loss to Roma over the weekend,
Lazio remains two points clear of second place AC Milan, and has collected 22 points from 10 matches.
Reja is also hoping that the disappointment of the loss to Roma doesn't live on too long in the memories of his players as they look to refocus against Cesena.
"We must leave behind us the disappointment of the derby," he said. "We will think again about the derby when the return fixture comes around but now we have to turn the page. We need to be careful and not throw away the good that we have done so far. We
still lead the standings and we look ahead to the game at Cesena as a chance to get back on track."
Cesena are currently tied at the bottom of Serie A with a mere eight points from their 10 matches.
