Hero Women’s Indian Open: Bree Arthur and Pornanong Phatlum share the lead
The second round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open came to a close on Saturday. The two players leading the leaderboard were Pornanong Phatlum and Bree Arthur.
The Thai golf professional, Phatlum, has led the tournament from the start and now, at the end of day two, she is still on top of the leaderboard.
The golf professional from Queensland has had a very successful tournament so far. Arthur has been playing plenty of good shots.
Whenever she made a bogey or played a bad hole, Arthur overcame the loss by playing some excellent golf on next holes.
In the second round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open, the 24-year-old Australian, Arthur, played a magnificent back nine, where she made five birdies.
The Englishwoman, Laura Davies, was not playing the kind of golf that would put her on top of the leaderboard.
For the Englishwoman to have any chance of grabbing the trophy, she will have to come up with the same game that won her the Hero Women’s Indian Open Championship in 2010.
Arthur, on the other hand, has played consistently. She made birdies when it was required of her to do so, to climb on top of the leaderboard along with Phatlum.
While commenting on her day’s performance after the second round, Arthur said, “I walked off the ninth having three-putted and got quite angry so I said, ‘that’s it: I’m going to go for everything".
The professional Thai golfer, Phatlum, explained how her second was better than the first round on the DLF Golf and Country Club, she said, “It was just really solid and good: a good day on the golf course".
For the players to come closer on top of the leaderboard they will have to exhibit the same level of game as the duo, Arthur and Phatlum are displaying.
The leaders of the tournament have to look out for the Swedish professional golfer, Caroline Hedwall, as she is coming up strongly after a disastrous first round.
The defending champion, Hedwall, is determined to retain her trophy and is likely to put up a tough battle in the final round.
