Hero Women’s Indian Open to kick off this Friday
The Hero Women’s Indian Open 2012 is set to be staged from November 30th to December 2nd, at the prestigious DLF Golf & Country Club, India, with the participation of almost all the top-ranked LET (Ladies European Tour) stars.
According to the details, the defending champion Caroline Hedwall of Sweden is in the roster, and she is determined to do her best once again. Moreover, other key contenders likely to shine at the DLF Golf & Country Club are Laura Davies of England and Swedish Pernilla Lindberg.
Observers said that most of the prominent players on the LET have confirmed their commitment for the prestigious tournament, and it is expected that Indian spectators are going to get behind those who display a better form—not just their national stars.
Since the tournament is going to be played in India, several local players have been included in the field.
Sharmila Nicollet, who is best known for her solid putting, will be battling for the title but it remains to be seen how she tackles battle-hardened Europeans.
Sharmila is heavily inspired by Tiger Woods, and she thinks that playing on a home course is an added advantage and she is ready to capitalise on it.
It is once again time for Indian LET stars to make their mark in professional golf. And this exposure is going to help players build up their already stunning profiles.
Experts said that it will not be easy for the defending champion to steal the show once again, but odds definitely are not against her. Since the field is featuring strong contenders, it will be better for the Swede to gain a lead early in the tournament, which in turn will put maximum pressure on rivals.
Another favourite contender is Laura Davies. Davies is capable of tearing apart the entire lineup as the veteran has lived through some tough situations in her protracted career.
Davies won the 2010 edition of the Hero Women’s Indian Open, and this year, she is looking even more confident as she has not been able to end her LET victory drought since.
Experts said that it will be refreshing to see a non-European player steal the show as the Tour is struggling to go global like the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has in the recent months.
