Hero of Order pulled a shocker when he won the Louisiana Derby sent as the 109 to 1 choice
All the pre Grade 2, $1 million Louisiana Derby talk about Mark Valeski going on to show the racing world that he deserves the early morning favourite tag in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby, and Rousing Sermon will redeem himself as he takes the field at Fair
Grounds, moreover the fact that Cigar Street was vying for the status of the Derby dark horse, was all blasted away to kingdom come when 109 to 1 shot, Hero of Order, blazed away in the deep stretch to shake the foundations of the Fair Grounds Race Course
by taking the Louisiana Derby on 1 April, 2012.
The Kentucky bred sin of Sharp Humor was sold for a mere $3,000 at Keeneland in September 2010 as a yearling, who is now trained by and co-owned by Gennadi Dorochenko under the banner of Raut LLC.
The dark bay colt after winning the Louisiana Derby made a handful of people rich, handing them a fortune with a payback of a staggering $220.80, $79.80, and $25.40 across the board.
Out of mare Ocean Sprite by Ocean Crest, Hero of Order was exiting a 4th place finish in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes also at Fair Grounds on 25 February, 2012, beaten by six lengths to winner El Padrino.
The colt took 9 starts to break his maiden, and when he did, he posted a fifth place finish in the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes. The Grade 2 Louisiana Derby was his eighth start at Fair Grounds, and he went on to win the big one.
“We run horses together, Eddie (Martin) and me," said Dorochenko in reference to Martin. "I told him exactly what (Hero of Order) wants to do; he do and he wins. Eddie is best jockey. We are around horses together, I give him chance. A lot of jockeys have
ridden (Hero of Order) and everything but he do exactly what I tell him, he wins.”

“You see, I brought not expensive horses but I make these horses expensive.”
In the Louisiana Derby, Mark Valeski had many opportunities to seal the deal, but he couldn’t covert and gave Hero of Order all the time and chance to post a half length victory, as Rousing Sermon finished third on the day.
