Hero of Order to try his magic in the Blue Grass Stakes
Surprise winner of the Grade 2, $1 million Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds Race Course on 1 April, 2012, Hero of Order is now pointed toward the Grade 2, $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland on 14 April, 2012.
Trainer Gennadi Dorochenko, who conditions the 3-year-old colt, Hero of Order, for Raut LLC, said the colt is feeling fresh and he is ready to run in the Blue Grass Stakes, and if that is the case then there is no harm in a second stint against the big boys
and see how it all unwinds.
Gennadi Dorochenko has another runner, Russian Greek, to represent him in the Blue Grass Stakes, but by now no rider has been confirmed for the strapping you colt. But while Hero of Order was entering the Blue Grass Stakes, Todd Pletcher trained, Raconteur,
was exiting the Blue Grass and according to his trainer the colt will be starting in the 14 April Grade 1, $1 million Arkansas Derby, but definitely not the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes.
Todd Pletcher, who has won the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes twice in his career, once 2005 and the other in 2008, will still be represented by another promising young colt, Heavy Breathing.
The colt is currently stationed at Palm Meadows where he recently turned in a work of half mile in 48.77 seconds on 8 April, but today he is scheduled to be shipped to Keeneland from the conditioner’s base at Palm Meadows.
Another colt, whose chances are bleak of running in the Blue Grass Stakes is the John Servis trained, Adirondack King. “I am going to talk today with the owners, but it may be the (Coolmore) Lexington (gr. III at Keeneland April 21) for him,” trainer John
Servis said.
“Ill Conceived will miss the Lexington,” Servis said. “It looks like he jammed a high suspensory and since he is not going to the (Kentucky) Derby, I am not going to rush him.”
Both Adirondack King and Ill Conceived worked on 7 April going five furlongs, but Ill Conceived came out of the race injured and will be missing his next start.
