  1. I couldn't get the link to open.  I don't know if she would be sued in the USA, it would depend on what kind of idiot got it in their head to sue her.  Regardless, I wouldn't call her "heroic", the definition of a hero is "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life."  I'm not saying what she did wasn't good, on the contrary, it was generous, kind, compassionate, and resourceful.  But she did not risk her life or even her health to do this, she merely gave what she had available to someone who needed it, something easy to give that is easily replaced.  It was a very good thing to do, yes, but heroic?  Hardly.

  2. I saw that.  It brought tears to my eyes that someone could be so kind, compassionate and giving.

I do believe that in the USA, she would be arrested, charged with indecent exposure and unprofessional conduct, sued by the parents of some of the babies*, and fired from the police force without a pension.  Her own child would have been placed in state custody.  The USA has a severe phobia of b*****s and anything done with them.  It's sad but true.  The old Puritan days never really ended.

*Not all of the children this kind lady fed were orphans.  Some of the mothers hadn't had anything to eat for several days and couldn't produce enough milk.

  3. she is doing what is necessary for those babies survival...we have wet nurses that do the same thing here(though very uncommon). there was little to no formula in that town, and those babies would have died without her. in katrina, several people who fed their babies formula lost them because of lack of clean water. and some people found a wet nurse. it has happened in america! if she was doing it without the parents permission, she would probably be sued...but in a disaster, where its life or death...those moms just want their babies to live.

i do believe she is a hero, no she is not risking her life, but can you imagine how emotional it would be to breastfeed other peoples babies? i can promise it would be hard for me...i mean, its not your baby, but its breastfeeding from you...that takes a lot.

  4. The parents of those children would probably sue if that was to happen in the US...not only that, the female police officer would be suspended from the force, her medical and retirement benefits be revoked and then the Civil Liberties Union would file some kind of massive suit upon her and after that, the government would find some way to indite her for some heinous crime against nature and she would probably spend the rest of her life behind bars.
