Athletic Bilbao midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ander-Herrera-c5543, has looked back on the calendar year 2012 for the club and urged his teammates to bring success for the fans
The Bilbao of today is a far cry from the one that was witnessed last season. The club has been in turmoil since the start of the season. Internal strife and poor performances on the field has caused them to slip to the bottom-half
of the table.
Herrera was under the stewardship of club boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa. The youngster is now not shy of experience in big occasions as he has already experienced two finals with his side.
“I’ve played in two finals and been part of Spain’s Olympic team.”
The Spaniard believes that it has been a great year for him as an individual but at the same time is fully aware of the struggles his club has experienced so far this season.
Herrera has much admiration for the loyal fans of the club and he believes it is their spirit that keeps them going on regardless of the difficult situation they face.
“So personally it’s been a good year, but you have to keep learning and improving. We never turn away. Our fans are with us in the good times and show their support in the bad.”
The midfielder is happy that he plays for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
“I am in no hurry; I’m very well in Bilbao. Playing here you realise what it means to be a part of Athletic. The feeling is passed from generation to generation.”
Finally, the 23-year-old has showered words of praise on the Blaugrana maestro, Andres Iniesta. He revealed that he takes him as a role model since he admires the characteristics of the Spanish international.
“I admire Andres Iniesta, for what he means, for what he transmits, for his humility. He is an example.”
Bilbao have been knocked-out of the Europa League and the Copa del Rey. They have also not done well in the Primera Division. Currently they sit on the 13th position with 21 points.
