Herstyler straightener shuts off?

Me and my neighbor decided to buy a herstyler straightener- $170 each. Don't get me wrong, they work well, but my cousin got a straightener for much cheaper that works just as well. And whenever I plug the dang thing in, it shuts off for no reason. I've tried putting the straightener in different plugs, and positions. Nothing has worked. My neighbor's does the same thing. I even went there and got another one, and it does the same thing... anybody else got this problem? Or at least some advice?

I have a her-style straightener. They shut off when they start getting too hot for your hair but come back on once they've cooled a little bit. Its actually better for your hair. When they shut off (when the red light goes off) it's just cooling down for a minute to keep from frying your hair.
