Hes Getin Nearer inching towards the victory in the April Standard at Henlow on 26th April
The April Standard will be held at Henlow over 460 metres flat on Thursday, 26th April. Competing for the £150 prize money are Jura Luna, Salacres Vision, Hes Getin Nearer, Mullpark Nelson and Blackrose Boss.
The most accomplished hound on the line-up with the best credentials is Hes Getin Nearer, Dods Delight’s two-year-old black son out of b***h, Castle Barns. He slipped into the season on 3rd February by getting drilled over 415 metres at Harlow
and timing the track in 27.58 seconds.
Hes Getin Nearer claimed the seasonal debut by dominating the 415 metres track in 26.83 seconds in a Grade A6 415 metres flat at Harlow.
The evening’s favourite made it on the other end of the wire by a mere head’s difference from the threatening runner up, Jhan. Filling up the third slot was Spitfire Kirsty.
In the second success of the season, on 24th February at Harlow in a Grade A5 415 metres flat, Spitfire Kirsty settled as the runner up after the 11/8 favourite winner, Hes Getin Nearer, who timed the track distance in 26.64 seconds.
Finishing the closest to the runner up was No Joke Christy.
The next four races found him winless with the last three being second positions. On 29th March, he won a 460 metres race at Henlow by clocking the track distance in 27.94 seconds. Joining the winner on the other end of the wire after leaping
through the 4 ¾ lengths gap was Mullpark Romeo.
He claimed the second leg of the hat trick on 6th April in Grade A2 460 metres flat at Henlow after completing the track distance in 27.64 seconds. Savana Lucas finished the closest to the winner after taking 27.86 seconds.
Playfield Era was the third one to race through the wire while the 11/10 favourite, Savana Reg, finished in the end.
He timed the final pillar of the hat trick by finishing first in the Bookmakers Standard Dup by reaching the other end of the wire in 28.20 seconds on 12th April at Henlow.
Qualifying as the runner up was Mullpark Nelson and he was soon followed by Hi Rumble.
The jolt of missing the very recent race will get the two-year-old back on the track for bagging tonight’s contest.
