Question:

Hesitant about taking psychiatric medication?

Does anyone else feel that their medications rob them of emotions like compassion and sadness, and indifference is replaced? I feel sometimes that the medication I take saps my spirit. Can anyone relate? if so, please share your thoughts and experiences.

  1. I'm in the same boat.

I, for one, am against any kind of psychiatric medication, period.  My reasons?  Well, I think that, barring extreme cases, the human mind is strong enough to resolve it's own problems.  With strong willpower, we can breeze by obstacles without medication even being in the equation.  But then again, there are people who are dependent on psychiatric medication to get through their day.

The reason a lot of people seemed "robbed of their emotions," as you call it, is because they know that they are no longer in complete control of their own mind.  When you settle for medication to solve your problem, often times you feel like you weren't strong enough to function under natural means.  This leads to depression at times.

If possible, just lay off any medication.  Whatever your reason for the medication in the first place, in can be solved with the human spirit.  God can help clear your mind, too.  Doctors aren't as smart as they seem to be.

    - Best of luck.

  2. you should be.

  3. You need psychotropic medication when it is painful getting through the day.  The usual patient needs relief from the pain of anxiety and depression.  Your creativity and compassion is not compromised.  Take the meds and avoid extended talk therapy.  Revealing your life to someone who is pretending to be interested in your problems is not realistic and is insulting to your dignity as a human.

  4. Yes that is why I use crystal healing

  5. I have heard from friends who have been on anti-depressants that it makes them feel numb. Some of them have tapered off their meds because they wanted to experience their emotions to the fullest, even if that meant unbearable sadness or mania.

  6. Unfortunately that is the trade off.  The emotions that make you have empathy are the same one's that make you neurotic.

    Stick with your meds.
