Heung-Min Son signs for Bayer Leverkusen from Hamburg SV – Football News
Bayer Leverkusen announced the arrival of Heung-Min Son from Hamburg SV for a reported fee of €10 million. The player has been signed as a replacement for departing attacker Andre Schurrle. Schurrle recently joined English giants
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for a £18 million fee.
Son is considered to be an emerging prospect in German football and Leverkusen have managed to sign the South Korean despite interest from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC and Tottenham Hotspur.
Bayer Leverkusen director Wolfgang Holzhauser claimed that his side have managed to sign a great player who is considered to be one of the players to watch out for in the future. He stated that the South Korean fits all the requirements
and is confident that the attacker will be a great success at BayArena.
Holzhauser added that Leverkusen did not want Schurrle to leave the club until a suitable replacement was signed. He is happy with the signing and is looking forward to the next season.
“With Heung-Min Son, we have a committed player who is already among the top performers despite his youth at HSV. Son fits in our requirements as a young, still very viable professional, with international standards. We have made
it clear from the beginning that a transfer to Chelsea for Andre Schurrle is feasible only in conjunction with an adequate alternative,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the club’s sporting director Rudi Voller added that Son is exactly the type of player Leverkusen wants. He claimed that Heung-Min Son will be a success at the club as the team will be playing in the UEFA Champions
League next season.
“Heung-Min Son is exactly the type of player we were looking for in our young team. He is fast, agile, technically strong and a great finisher. Son is helping us to achieve our goals in Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League,”
he concluded.
Heung-Min Son had a fantastic season with Hamburg SV as he scored 12 times in all competitions. The player was one of the most impressive men for Die Roten and already has 15 international caps to his name.
