http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173 to part ways with Tottenham Hotspur, but plans to remain in the EPL
Tottenham Hotspur second choice goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes revealed he could be heading towards a White Hart Lane exit after being left out of the squad way too many times by manager Harry Redknapp. The 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international could very well be
leaving in the upcoming January transfer window, but insisted he wished to remain in the English Premier League.
Gomes is currently considering his options, knowing he does not have a place in the first team at Tottenham Hotspur anymore. The Brazilian was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953, who was brought in by Redknapp in the summer transfer window and has quickly established
himself as the first choice stopper.
Gomes said while speaking to reporters:
“It is very hard to keep driving yourself on when you are not in the team. I have never been in a situation like this before.”
According to Gomes, he was not used at being second choice to anyone else, which is why this was all the more harder for him. In addition to that, Gomes no longer has any motivation to prove himself since he knows he will not get a chance in the starting
XI, with Redknapp’s mind made up about who he wishes to play in goal.
He revealed:
“I think they signed Friedel to be No.2 because the people around the club said that was the case. So I was relaxed about the situation.”
The Brazilian admitted that he had initially assumed Friedel was brought in to be the second choice keeper, but was surprised to see him take his place in the starting XI. It is for this reason that Gomes has decided to leave White Hart Lane and look for
another club.
Gomes admitted:
"I need to think about a new club because I want to play for Brazil again. To do that I need regular games and at Tottenham that is not possible.”
However, the keeper wishes to remain in the English Premier League because his family has taken a liking to the country.
He continued:
“I would like to stay in the Premier League. My kids and wife love it here in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and I think I can earn other teams points in the same way I have for Tottenham.”
