Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173 has revealed he could end up staying at White Hart Lane after the departure of Harry Redknapp.
Under the English manager, Gomes lost out his place in the first team to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 and did not make any appearances at all in the English Premier League. It was then that he claimed he desperately wanted a move away from the London side.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven after four years at White Hart Lane, after he made it clear he could not remain at Tottenham Hotspur if he was not guaranteed regular play time by the manager; Harry Redknapp.
However, since Redknapp was sacked, Gomes seems to have changed his mind about leaving the club in the summer transfer window. Gomes admitted he had a particularly tough season but after Redknapp’s departure he was looking forward to trying again with the
Spurs.
Gomes revealed in an interview:
“It was a very hard season, I was desperate to leave. Now things have changed as the manager left last week.”
The 31-year-old revealed his ambition at this point was to secure regular football with club and more importantly, country. Gomes wishes to make a return to the Brazil national team and he was certain he was at the right age to do so.
Gomes made his debut for Brazil in the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup while he was still part of the under-23 squad and helped his side reach the final, which they eventually lost 1-0 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956. Since 2003, Gomes has made a total 11 appearances for the national
side.
He said:
“I want to return to the national team but I have to play first. Once I'm playing again, my focus will be on returning to the national team. I know how good it is to be there.
Of course, they are rejuvenating the national team, but I'm only 31, which is a good age. I'll do very well this season.”
With the departure of Redknapp, Gomes can expect more of a role for Tottenham Hotspur, which would automatically make him more available for country.
