  1. communication satellites are the size of a large refrigerator.

  2. Aly-Mari:

Satellites come in all sizes.  There are some tiny ones that were recently launched that were made by students at the US Naval Academy, students in Saudi Arabia, India, and Germany.  They are called Cube-Sats because they are only about one cubic foot - 1'x1'x1'.  There was a satellite recently that was an old space suit that was launched from the international space station with a radio in it.  Ham radio operators heard it for some days until it returned to earth and burned up.

Some other satellites are as big as a bus like  the Hubble space telescope.  The biggest satellite is the international space station.

If you want to you can see the space station and lots of other satellites as they pass by your house.

    Go to http://www.heavens-above.com.

It will tell you when you can see the space station from your house.  You might also want to see the interesting flash from the Iridium satellites and you can see the Hubble telescope too.  It is really interesting to watch the satellites go by.  Some of the really big ones look like a bright star moving across the sky.  You will want to show your friends too.

Then you will want to talk to other people via the satellites.  That is fabulous fun too, but that is another story.

Good luck and 73 from the Fisherman
