My friend and I were watching the South Park episode "Ike's Bris" on his DVD, and Stan asks "Why do dogs have cold noses?" Then Mr. Mackey doesn't know that question. So, that left me wondering, why do dogs have cold noses anyway?

  1. Wells its really WET not cold... so it means that  they are healthy  and if they are dry they are sick.... its the same with cats

  2. Because they are wet....? I'm not really sure, good question!

  3. Scientists have many answers for this. One is that evaporation or moisture from the nose helps cool the dog. Another is that added moisture in the nose makes the dog more sensitive to odors. The most boring answer is that many digs simply l**k their noses with their tongues, thus wetting them.  ^_^

  4. They l**k them constantly to keep them moist. The saliva helps them smell better.

  5. Why do they have cold AND WET noses. That's my question.

Is it really because they l**k them? It's not a mucus from the nose itself? I never see my dog l**k his nose. It does get warm and dry when he sleeps....

  6. If you licked your nose all the time it would be cold too
