i have a horse, but she is borded at my uncles house, so i only get to see her once during the weekday, and every saturday and sunday.

on saturdays i bring her 2 sugar cubes, and 2 carrots.

thats not bad is it?

it makes her a little bit frisky, but, then again, she is always frisky lol

so the sugar cubes arent bad are they?

thank you!

  1. Hey not at all! Your uncles horse is really going to like you! 2 sugar cubes and 2 carrots is fine. Just be sure you pet her a lot and tell her you love her.

  2. they aren't to bad but maybe you shouldn't give it to your horse so often because horses can throw up, and if it doesn't digest well your horse may have to be cut open so the can remove the stuff

  3. I don't know much about horses, but two small sugar cubes for an animal that size couldn't have much effect.  Sugar is a natural substance.  As for the friskiness, studies show that kids don't get hyper from sugar the way parents think they do, so I'll bet horses don't, either.

  4. Not at all. A nice treat every now and then is good, and two sugar cubes and a couple of carrots is a great treat.

  5. just one or 2 a week arent isnt that bad 4 it

  6. so long as she does not start getting nippy (if she does just feed her the treats from the ground) my horses get a carrot or horse cookie every day, and occationally something else lol. one nips so i put it in her grain bucket to feed it to her. but it wont hurt her at all. (and they can digest them, its not poisonous so they DONT NEED to throw it up)

  7. i would recommend 1

  8. does that mean it's ok for humans too? cause that's pretty much what i do to.

  9. Some people don't believe in giving horses treats. I used to give them to my horses quite a bit, but they are a distraction and if you do it around a lot of horses you can get mobbed. I will still give my horses treats now and then, but not as a reward for anything. I give them just to give them some and only when I have a horse alone. I don't see anything wrong with what you are doing.

  10. i think it's fine every now and then. stop doing this though because i'm sure she expects them every saturday, so if you continue this for a while and then don't do it once, she can start biting. so stop now, and only do it once in a blue moon. you can still give it to her though if you put it in her normal feed as a surprise.

  11. no there not bad

  12. no!

    its fine (:

  13. 2 sugar cubes a week is no problem. For an animal the size of a horse the little bit of sugar won't make any difference in behavior. Be careful with carrots though- horses have been known to choke to death on them. Cut the carrots into sticks, don't give them to the horse whole.

  14. No! Just the way we love the occasional treat, your horse loves her little treat too!

  15. id of thought that sugercubes were bad for horses because the suger would be bad for there teeth and would eventually rot there teeth! Also giving sugercubes, carrots, apples and polo mints although horses love them are all tipbits(treats) and you shouldnt tipbit horses because it causes them to bite!which is not good!!it doesnt hurt every now and then but try not to tipbit everytime you see the horses cause then they'll expect it everytime and like i say cause them to start nipping n bitting to get more!but coming back to your question are sugercubes bad? i would say yes they are, only feed carrots and apples(sliced lengthways not in circles!so they dont choke!) as they are a heathy treat and remember not to give them a treat everytime you see them, just every now and then Goodluck

  16. It's fine but now she will expect this from you every time, your setting a pattern.   Try not to give them to her every time you see her, or don't give it right away one week and switch the next.

  17. nope their not

  18. Nothing at all wrong with that..As a matter of fact my vet reccomends giving them those hard white and red candy  mints.. Mine love them...The mint is good for their stomachs.

  19. Not at all. :)

  20. No, not at all a couple a week is fine. Most Horses love sweet treats
