  1. It looks like a light-up garden ornament (the flower is a lily).

I'm not so sure it's a lily (other than by common name).  Does it have any obvious leaves currently?  If it's just the flower stalk and you get long, strap-like leaves from the same area but at a different time, that's the belladona lily (it also has another name that Yahoo! would censor).  The plant is in the amaryllis rather than lily family.

  3. It is what we in the South call a "surprise lilly."  Around here they are rare and the reason they are called this is because - most times - they are not planted, they just show up.  They start off as a green stalk and the next thing you know, the blooms develop (almost over night).  Hence the name "surprise lilly."  According to my grandmother they are supposed to be good luck.
