  1. weighing 135  i would say 6'6 ..

Your height really isn't as much of an issue as is your weight.

    Go to     7th street surfshop.com

  2. If you want to learn on a shorter board, get a retro fish. It's not as long as a longboard but has plenty of width and thickness along with a deep swallow tail - all of this will help you paddle better and catch tons of waves. You'll also be able to grow with these boards since they're maneuverability is similar to a shortboard. Check out 9:Fish Surfboards (http://www.9fishsurf.com/products.html).... They have a great line of fish and are reasonably priced (Fishes are more expensive because they require the use of longboard foam and more material).  A couple of models that might be exactly what you're looking for are the 6'4' Fugu or 6'10" Yellowtail.

  3. since you are just learning, buy a used board! And get something in the 9' range. a good price for a new one would be anything under $600 nd use for around $300. Check your local craigslist.com for local peopel selling surfboards and go to local shops. The shaper doesnt matter to much, jsut make sure its water tight, as in no holes or damage. Have Fun! Dont give up, took me a couple hours to finally stand up. been surfing for 3.5 years

  4. as a general guide any surfboard you buy should be at least 6 inches taller than u. since its your first board i'd go for something a little bigger than 5"6, if you want to learn quick i suggest a long board
