  1. look at your local barn and tack shops for flyers, or feed stores, or try the websites others have suggested. You may be able to find a good horse for that price but what about upkeep?, its thousands of dollars just to keep a horse for a year and why do you need it before the end of july?!?

  2. LOL!

    This is a joke, right?

  3. I found these Horses for you. They all match your needs, and are under $1900.

    Good Luck with your search!

  4. maybe you should auctually look on some sites lik equine.com horsetopia.com dreamhorse.com equinenow.com horseonsale.com stuff like that search ur price and area

  5. I live in Maine too. But I don't think you'll have to much luck finding a show horse under that price. Keep trying though!

  6. Well I found quite a few at a $1,000.00 on Dreamhorse.com

That's a LONG copy and paste and you didn't say which discipline!  LOL

  7. You're crazy.  :-)

A show quality horse who has been vetted sound is going to be more than $900.

Also consider it's not the purchase price but the care that is really going to cost you.  If you can't afford the right horse to begin with, you may find yourself in trouble if the horse needs an emergency vet call & you don't have the money.

You can try to get a lower quality horse.  Do be aware that not everyone keeps up with a horse's care.   For you to catch a horse up on his vet exam, Coggins, vaccinations, dental work, and hoof care you can be out $200-300 easily.

  8. ditto to Hannah.

A great source for a decent horse that costs little is the humane society or animal shelter.  Volunteer with one in your area for bit, get to know the people and horses, tell the others what you are looking for...they will help you find one that is a good fit.  They usually charge a donation fee that helps pay for the animal's stay and vet bills--$500ish.  These horses have been malnurished or mistreated and may need extra patience and care while they learn to trust again, but their are many wonderful horses that you can get that way.  Good luck!

  9. dreamhorse

    mainehorse

    craiglist

    equine

    equinesite

but for under 900? probably not.  could you possiably lease a horse? if you cannot afford a horse thats over 900, I'm having a hard time believing that you would be able to afford for the care and up keep of a horse. if your gong to board its minimal 300 up here (yep I'm in maine too) hay is getting expensive, and grain is about $15 a bag, shavings are $5 a bag. and the price of tack is going to be expensive as well.

  10. you want a horse that can do all that for under a grand?

    good luck girly

**i upped you price to 1500

    and look what i found

    http://www.equine.com/horses/search_resu...

    wow

i had to get off that site i almost called a person bout one of the horses

  11. Go on horse sale websites and add your horses. equine.com is my favorite site as it is easy to use and has many horses available, but here are some other websites that you could use to try to buy a horse. (That's a small price to expect for a talented horse, and the upkeep is what you should be worried about)

    www.equine.com

    www.equinenow.com

    www.horsetopia.com

    www.equinehits.com

    www.dreamhorse.com

    www.horsefinders.com

    www.horseonsale.com

    www.horseclicks.com

    www.horseville.com

    www.agdirect.com

    www.freehorseads.com

    www.hoobly.com

    www.livedeal.com

    www.bestfarmbuys.com

You can also check at rescue organizations or at any local barns and see if there are people there with a horse for lease/sale. Good Luck!

  12. Try a rescue organization...you may have to put some work into them (lessons, gaining trust, lots of TLC) but the rewards would be great.

There are many many good horses looking and need good homes.

You did not mention what discipline you ride...but most can be adapted to ride english or western..they just may do better at one based on their way of going (for show purposes).

Here are some links to try...

    www.saddlebredrescue.com

    www.petfinder.com (or .org)

    www.ac4h.com

    Good Luck...

  13. some people are right, that it is truely hard to find a horse with enough training for what you want and the price/time frame.

but it is possible, unless everyone forgot that the economy is down and people who have horses may not be able to afford them now.  prices for horses are dropping. people are leaving their horses at show grounds. and there is such a large amount of hores out there that dont have homes and get sold to over seas that are good riding horses (you just have to be able to tell the diff tween the two)

i found a horse in my area, 700, was a lesson horse and show horse, but it was alittle more spirited then they wanted for their riding program so they were selling it, they had younger students.

it is possible, but at the same time, the chances that you'll find the right horse by the end of july is slim to none, these things take time and careful thought. rushing the proccess of buying a horse is never the best way to go about it.

good luck, i suggest you start at local tack stores and shows.
