  1. make sure u r in shape or else u will b in trouble.  make sure u have all the fundimentals of it. practice on ur side of your house or the roof or just lay on ur bed and set

  2. I tried out for my varsity volleyball team two weeks ago, and made it.  The key is to work extreamly hard during the try outs, make sure the coach sees you trying your best.  In my school they don't grade you only on how good you are; but on your attitude, how many practices you went to, and if you want to learn and improve.  Even if you aren't the best on the team it is alright, be a good sport and just have fun while you are out there.  If you don't make it this year, its alright, just practice and have fun with the game.

  3. There are some very good ideas on how to improve your value as a player on our website. These ideas were supplied in response to a question concerning a 9th grader who wanted more playing time. You might find some of these helpful. Here is a link to the posting:

  4. Be in shape; but really have your legs ready to work.....do a thing called wall-sits..place your back against a wall then slide down to  where your in a "sitting in a chair" like position...without the chair of course....hold it there for 2 minutes and let go (less if you can tolerate it) do 10 reps...slowly increase you amount of time you sit every 2 weeks....this helps a lot.....but make sure your are working other areas too...just incorporate this into a good work-out routine.

practice as well.  find out what your key spot is...if you have already played this sport...are you an all around good v-ball player or are you primarily a power hitter spiker setter etc.

be aggressive in this sport...try to never let a ball hit the ground...we did a thing on my team that every time the ball hit the ground and no one made a "good attempt" to hit it or just let it go...we would put a $1.00 in the jar and at the end of the year we would all take ourselves out to dinner.

best of luck and hope this helps....Just be positive and do your best!

  5. Be sure all of your skills are sharp, especially passing!

Be fit when you come in, don't wait until the last minute to start your training.

Come prepared! Don't forget your shoes, water bottle, etc.

My sister always says, "Come to play your best." That is different for different people. So, do whatever it takes to show you are prepared, a team player and have mad skills!

    Good luck.

  6. Don't.
