its greener out after it rains the plants just seem brighter and greener?

  1. Rainwater does contain small amounts of dissolved nitrate and ammonium and these act as fertilisers. The atmosphere is about 80% nitrogen. Various natural nitrogen oxides result from electrical (lightning) activity and other reactions in the atmosphere, but they are also added to by manmade pollution products containing nitrogen oxides.

    Since nitrate is a component of nitric acid, this is a contribution to 'acid rain'.
