I just did a PC recovery and all of my wires were connected including the DSL wires. Later I found out that I was not able to connect to the internet, the screen kept displaying the message "Limited or no connectivity" I thought I needed a new IP address but I actually found out that I needed to replace my motherboard. Was this due to my Pc recovery that I did without removing all the wires? As a result I had to buy a new pc with an all new hhard drive

  1. This would not affect your motherboard in any way.

Are you sure you needed a new motherboard? This sounds like someone took advantage of you, and sold you something you didn't need.

If you were able to do the recovery, then your motherboard was fine, as this would be the hardest work your motherboard could do, and it would require the CPU, RAM and hard drive to communicate at max speed.

I believe you got bad advice and was sold something not needed.

I also believe all that was needed was to setup your internet connection properly.

  2. It does sound like your computer didn't have any problems just that you needed to configure your internet properly. I usually get that problem if I have a computer connecting to my router and the username and password are incorrect or maybe your modem and router share the same ip if you have one or some other configuration problem. But it sounds like you did everything right just needed to get the configuration right.

  3. I can't imagine how this could happen from a PC recovery.  I do PC Repair and I do windows restorals and reinstalls constantly with the ethernet cables and everything else all hooked up.  It should not have any effect on the connection.  Motherboards are tricky things though, it's possible that something may have just gone wrong and a fluke caused the ethernet port to stop working, or maybe your motherboard was really fine and there was something wrong with your internet settings.  Are you sure you had DHCP and DNS set to automatic?  Or are you supposed to have a static IP address from your ISP that you didn't set up properly?
