  1. No,they do it for the love of their sport and their country not for money.I am happy to pay 80cents for my share of cost of medals. When you break it down that's what it cost each Australian.

  2. 17 million dollars? who the h**l is going to give them 17 million dollars?

And no, I don't think they should. 17 million is a rediculous amount of money.

  3. 1 million is enough

  4. No!  Are you guys nuts over there?  If an athlete is worth 17 million then let them go out and earn it with endorsements or other deals.

  5. someone posted something similar to this. only i think the poll asking about if the medal was worth it meant it took 18 million dollars to train and get aussies to the olympics and they only came back with one gold. wondering if that gold medal worth all that money invested

    EDIT:

no it meant estimated 16 million (i don't doubt this number) to train the aussie olympic collective but only one athlete was able to get the gold. so was it worth all that only to achieve one gold medal

sorry it was 16 million not 18

maybe you misinterpreted the poll. regardless you obviously feel it was worth your tax dollars

  6. I thought that poll was about the cost of getting an

athlete from junior sports person to gold medallist

    was approx $17 million.

The cost of the Australian Institute of Sport, the training, travel, equipment, the cost of coaching and everything else that goes into making an Olympic gold medal winner.

I did not think that the question was if anyone should pay them that amount of money.

Edit: Obviously my answer must suck too.

But that's what I thought the poll was all about.

  7. that sounds like a h**l of a way to spend tax payer dollars. But I'm not Aussie so I don't really care.
