  2. Hey Cammy,  Great question!!!  I have never thought about it,  but sure... It think a silk swab would make a great oboe swab.  In fact....  That is what my daughter always used in her oboe...  but I thought it WAS an oboe swab.   She also had a couple of those insert cleaning rods that she used for oiling the inside of her oboe.  These would work for you as well.   If you have a chance...  google WoodWind BrassWind.  They have a 1800 # and if you call and ask them to send a catalog for woodwind accessories , which they send out for free...  you can check out all of the cleaning accessories you can imagine...     They will definately have what you need for your oboe.  Thanks for reading and I hope I helped.  :))

  3. OK.

Obviously NO ONE WHO HAS ANSWERED is an oboist.

I majored on oboe and made flute my second Instrument.

    DO NOT do it!!!!

    It'll get stuck

Everyone thinks that a clairnet swab and and oboe are similar. IT'S NOT!!!!

    Oboe is a lot thinner.

Oboe swabs have to be so thin and they come with metal on them because on it's head where the reeds goes is tiny.

A flute cloth WILL Not fit!

It can get caught if you don't use an oboe swab and oboe repairs are expensive.

PLEASE Get an oboe swab and don't listen to anyone else who says otherwise!
