  1. it will be difficult if you make it so...go to class everyday, take notes, do homework, study for exams...the grades will follow...good luck!

  2. Not to scare you, but here's the truth:

Engineering will kill your social life. While your friends are out partying, you'll be in the library. The first post was right - you will learn mostly from problem sets - but they take HOURS. Exams usually have you using concepts in new ways rather than reiterating from the book.

Now of course some of the people in my classes just breezed through it, but they were the geniuses. The majority of us had to wade through the work to make it.

The payoff? You get high paying jobs and a sound, analytical mindset while those people were partying struggle to make their student loan payments. There is justice (though I'm not bitter, most of my friends were the ones partying in college and I love them, just happy I worked hard is all).

  3. The way to pass college is to go to class every time. Going to class takes very little effort and has big payoffs. Some people prefer to skip class and do it on their own. I always found that by mearly going to class I had to do very little on my own, which I rather enjoy.

In a field like science, math, or engineering most of the stuff you learn by doing homework/working problems. When the test time rolls around you already know everything because you did it before on your homework. If you know how to do the math when the test rolls around what are you gonna study, you already know it. This know it or not thing might be what your friends are talking about when it comes to tests. I usually only study for a test for like 1 day before and do fine because I am not trying to remember a bunch of stuff like you have to for a history class.
