  1. Galant

    then GP

    avoid used VWs

  2. I would prefer Galant.

I think - you should also compare insurance quotes for these cars before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.maclenet.com

First time drivers usually have much higher rates than others. And it depends from car.

  3. I'd go with the Galant  - The VW has less miles but its also the most expensive of the 3. I had a Grand Prix like that same year and it was a peice of trash - horrible on gas too which is really important right now. And I have a freind who has that same Galant and its great on gas - I think she is at around 150,000 miles and still no major issues. Yea and the Pontiac is in Aurora. I wouldnt recommend anyone going to that armpit for anything. Good luck!

  4. I have worked in a shop for 12 years and have plenty enough experience to say Volkswagen's are garbage. You get them to around 100k and they fall apart and they are very expensive to fix.The Mitsubishi is a good car but when things do go wrong they are very expensive to repair. The Pontiac has the trusty 3.8 engine which if taken care of it will never let you down. The one and only thing bad about these is there is a little more maintenance you have to do with the brakes that is if it does have 4 wheel disc.I have a 95 regal with the same engine and transmission and i have 201000 on it and still no rebuilds of any kind and i have always had it get 25-28 city and 30-36 highway with it.Its all in how you drive it.So my pick would be the grand prix. But just make sure you have it checked out very well before you buy just to make sure it has not had the c**p beat out of it.Good luck!

  5. Pontiac. Not a very well built car. Good Engine but everything around it is plastic c**p. Cheapest to repair of the three. Loses value quickly.

VW - It's from Germany. Great car to drive, best looking one of the bunch. But it's also expensive to repair and not very reliable. High maintenance costs.

Mitsu - The Galant ranks lower compared to other Japanese imports like the Camry and Accord, but they have strong engines and offer good ride, reliability and performance.  Costs less than Honda or Toyota too.  Some parts may be harder to find since Mitsu sells in small numbers in the US. Solid transportation and lower overall repair costs than the the other two.

    I'd buy the Galant.
