  1. Granada is not on the high speed rail network yet. What happens is a slower train runs down the high speed rail from Madrid to Cordoba, then goes south to Antequera, and then East to Granada. There are only two non-stops per day (as opposed to approx 22 high speed trains).

    ============================

    The morning train leaves Madrid (Atocha station) at 7:40 and gets into Cordoba at 9:49 (half hour longer than the AVE). It continues on to Granada at quarter past noon.

    ------------------------

    It's important not to miss the train since the next non-stop train leaves at 5 in the afternoon (Cinco de la Tarde for you Garcia Lorca fans).

    ==============================

    From Seville there are four trains per day (3 hours). This train is fairly slow (less than 50 mph). If you are returning you may want to rent a car for this leg and visit the city of Antequera midway.

  2. From Madrid to Granada by plane, train or bus...

    From Sevilla to Granada there are no direct trains, your best bet is the direct bus (it takes about 3 hrs.).

    Or rent a car....

    Whichever suits best your schedule AND your wallet!
