Actually i say that no kind of repulsion force exists..... when i place 2 north poles close to each other..... actually the south pole of the 1st magnet attracts the north pole of the other.....this produces accelaration which appears to us that the like poles are repelling each othe.....and yeah...where do the 2 poles of a spherical magnet lie(geometric location)????

  1. hey u should try with a proper bar or horse shoe magnet..place them as follows

    N:::::::::::S  S:::::::::::N

    u may not be able to make the center gap zero...try it once more..they will repel..its just way of explaining the electron orientetin phenomenon...in evey magnet all atoms  r oriented in particular direction

    for more info go to this sitehttp://www.magnet.fsu.edu/education/tuto... ..good luck

  2. Keep the two magnets in a way that the axis of both the magnets co-incide / form a Straight line, keeping both the North poles or the South poles together. Now the unlike poles are not attracting as they move away from each other.

    For answer to the poles of Spherical magnet, see the below link

  3. take 2 flat straight magnets and try to push to 2 same polarity ends together...

    as to the 2nd question, along the flat sides... depending on how the magnet was made...

    Why would such a basic principle be in question?

  4. This won't really help (sorry) but it's an FYI. Science still does not really understand WHY magnets do what they do. It's an area of physics we don't understand.
