  1. I would buy a used-in-good-condition camera on eBay first. A refurbed camera from the company will be fine, like brand new. However, it will still be more expensive than a good used model. I get all of my camera equipment used from eBay and Amazon for great prices and I've never had a problem. Just buy from a reputable seller.

  2. Refurbished cameras can vary a lot in their 'quality'. The reason is that they come from a variety of sources. Many refurbished cameras are simply ones people returned two days after buying it and are pretty much perfectly new. Sometimes a refurbished camera is even a brand new one that a store just had overstocked. Of course, sometimes refurbished cameras were ones that were duds and the company actually had to repair them. Unfortunately, you'll never know where yours came from.

That being said, I wouldn't be too concerned. Since you're buying straight from the manufacturer you can pretty much bet that they've done some good testing of any model they are selling as refurbished.

  3. I've bought used cameras and lenses with rather good success. Only sometimes they are is slightly less as good condition than described, but these are from Ebay not the manufacturer.

Since it's from Fuji directly  and not a fly-by-night operation, I wouldn't worry.
