  1. There are some incredible fashion design schools in the US. Schools like Pratt, the New School (where Project Runway is taped), and in Rhode Island RISD are incredible locations to study fashion. The industry is also incredible, with money to be made throughout the world. The one thing that people will never have enough of and demand will never go down for is new clothes and trends. That being said, I'm sure you've seen Devil Wears Prada. Having dated a girl studying fashion design at Pratt the movie's not off beat, the industry is hard. You'll work long hours, so you better love fashion and everything about it. I don't doubt it'll be a rewarding experience all around though.

  2. follow your dreams and passions and keep an open mind- In other words: Go towards your interests, but when opportunities arise don't dismiss them just because they're not exactly what you thought you'd be doing...

  3. After 12th your best bet would be to enroll in your local community college and start taking general classes that you would need to take for an AA or BA.

I never had a plan or idea what I wanted to do after high school.  I was also discouraged from following my dreams, and told "that takes alot of college, and you don't like school" so I stupidly followed that advice.

You obviously have access to a computer, and the sense to research and ask questions.  Start researching fashion desiging schools, local schools, best schools.  Some community colleges have specialized programs in various feilds. You might be able to get your feet wet that way to see if it's what you really want.  If you're not a great designer, there are still plenty of careers in that feild, from buyers (who do you think gets all those clothes picked out for the stores) merchandisers, photographers....There are plenty of choices, but you have to look around to discover them.

Bottom line, when you're looking at "what to do when I grow up" career wise, you have to find something that you love doing, because you're going to be doing it for a long time.  If you dread going to work each day, your life will be miserable.  If you love it, it doesn't even seem like work.

Good luck.  Do at least start community college as soon as possible though.  Taking that break and just getting a job sounds tempting, but pretty soon, the money is more attractive, and education seems less important. Before you know it, you've got all kinds of bills, and HAVE to work, school takes a back burner.
