Invest in a warehouse that's big enough to hold lots of ingredients. Invest in research because you will get a better reputation if you can cure illnesses before you're competitors. Make sure you keep upgrading your potion maker and in store entertainment as you get busier to stop people getting fed up and leaving.

Borrow as much money as you can from the loan shark if you need it. The interest is worth paying as you will be making a lot more money if you can encourage people into you store and have enough ingredients to serve them.

If goons are available the ones that encourage people into your shop are better than the ones that try to stop people going into other stores at this stage. Later on you can hire a big stinky baby and put it outside your competitors store, it works really well.
