  1. Mine just did 'Urinetown'. It went over pretty big.

  2. Les Miserables!!! It's an AMAZING show and would showcase as many students as possible. Has roles for freshmen (Little Cosette, Gavroche) all the way up through seniors (Valjean, Eponine, etc.). Also consider favorites like West Side Story, The Sound of Music, and Oliver.

Another great choice that is rarely done is The Secret Garden. Also look into Narnia the musical. That also has roles for young looking freshmen (Lucy, Edmund) through Seniors.

  3. What kind of talent do you guys have?

If every single person is great then you should do something by Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, etc.) or possibly the Producers.

If not then you should try...

    The Wizard of Oz

    Little Shop of Horrors

    Guys and Dolls

    Anything Goes

  4. Well coming from my high school's past productions and some reccomendations of my own....

    ~Seaussical the Musical

    ~ Rumours

    ~ Guys and Dolls

    ~ Godspell

    ~ Fiddler on the Roof

~ RENT (only if everyone is ok with it, it's a really controversial play)

    ~ Urinetown

    ~The Wizard of Oz

    ~ Pirates of Penzance (sp?)

    ~ Chicago

    ~ Hairspray

    ~ Hair

This is all I can think of right now

  5. GREASE

  6. High School Musical which is the easiest and funnest to do

    Fiddler On the Roof

    Legally Blonde

    Hairspray

    Grease

    Dirty Dancing

    The Beauty and the Beast

    RENT

    G'luck!

  7. I'm not sure if high schools are able to do shows that are currently on Broadway, because even though my middle school is an arts school, we are not allowed to produce a musical currently on Broadway.

    Suggestions are endless.

*Seussical The Musical (good musical, I was Gertrude McFuzz in a Junior production of the show this summer.)

*Bat Boy (musical for my school this year)

    *Godspell

    *Annie

    *RENT

    *Hairspray

    *High School Musical

    *Urinetown

    *Grease

  8. high school musical ?

    annie get your gun

    annie

    bye bye birdie

    crazy for you

  9. fame

    footloose

    high school musical

    hairspray

    legally blonde

    grease

    beauty and the beast

    the wizard of oz

    little shop of horrors

  10. How about creating your own musical based on an issue important to you and your peers?  Can you write your own plays and select songs that you all like that will fit the plot?

  11. You should do Newsies; it's a really under-rated musical/movie with Christian Bale.

    Some other suggestions:

    Phantom of the Opera

    The Sound of Music

    My Fair Lady

    Singing in the Rain

    Beauty and the Beast

    Godspell

    The Producers

    Kiss Me Kate

    Guys and Dolls

    Doctor Dolittle

    Mary Poppins

    Jailhouse Rock

    Hair

    Hairspray

    Grease

    Hello Dolly

    The Wizard of Oz

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Probably impossible to put on in a high school production, but would be AMAZING if you could pull it off)

    South Pacific

    Oklahoma

    Fiddler on the Roof

    Annie

    West Side Story

Those are just a few suggestions... But I really think you should do Newsies; it would be easy to put on, and there's some catchy songs.

    Hope that helps.

  12. A lot of people have suggested Hairspray, but you can't do that (at least, not without getting sued!) as the rights aren't available yet.  Legally Blonde is the same.  My suggestions would be:

    - Guys and Dolls

    - Fiddler on the Roof

    - The Wizard of Oz

    - Children of Eden

    - Les Miserables School's Edition (you do need amazing singers for this though!)

    - Grease

    - Pirates of Penzance

    - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

    - Jesus Christ Superstar (but only if you have someone who can sing Judas properly, it's not an easy role)

    - Into the Woods (the most accessible Sondheim for schools, Sweeney Todd is too hard)

    - Big River (not often done but it's a lovely show)

    - Honk!

    - Oliver

    - Oklahoma

    - Anything Goes

    - Return to the Forbidden Planet

    - Little Shop of Horrors

Have a look at www.mtishows.com or www.tams-witmark.com for more lists of shows - they have character breakdowns and other useful info for each show there too.

  13. Fiddler On The Roof

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamed Coat

    Aida

    Beauty and the Beast

    Sound of Music

    Cinderella

    The Wiz

    Wizard of Oz

    Tom Sawor

    Bugsy Malone

    Bye Bye Birdy

    42 Street

    Cats (please don't)

    Kiss Me Kate

    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

    Big River

    Annie Get Your Gun

    Annie

    Grease

That's all I can think of.

    Have Fun!
