  1. Was there some kind of process you took to pick these colleges or was it at random? Caltech is an engineering school and probably would not be a good place to go for acting. I think Harvey Mudd is also an engineering school.

I think, as a first step, you should figure out what you might consider doing as a major, then pick your colleges based on that. The general rule of thumb is to apply to some safety schools, reach schools, and schools in between. You can figure out what categories these schools fall into by their average SAT scores. If you have no idea what you plan on majoring in, you might want to consider a large university that has a lot of majors for you to explore.

Of course most people want to earn a lot of money after college, but let's be realistic. Are your grades good? Are you willing to work a lot? If so, you can look at this website to see schools that produce graduates who make the most money:

  2. I would say that if you want to act, California schools are the way to go.

-For Acting, USC has a great school of Theater. Not to mention that it is in L.A. giving you great access to the entertainment industry. However, if you really want to make a great deal of money, acting is not one of the most well-payed professions. So, you could major in a professional major (USC has 17 professional schools) that pays well and minor in theater arts. Then, you will have a high-paying job that will support you until your acting career kicks in.

-For music and dance, I have heard that Berkeley has a great Music program. However, you would more-than-likely have to choose a professional major just as I stated for USC.

-One that you did not list, however, is UCLA. UCLA has some of the best music, theater, film, dance, etc. programs in the country. From what you provided, I would suggest UCLA.
