  1. My first suggestion is to PLEASE know what you want to buy before going online to buy it.  Make sure you are getting an eyes-on, hands-on look at the board you want before you just up and buy online.  That could just mean checking out your buddies' boards and figuring out what you like, then just buying the newer model of that.  Or, demo boards from a local shop.  Even if you can't hit the slopes on a board first, it helps to get a feel for the board you want.  You can even try strapping it on on some carpet and just flexing it side to side, tail to nose, etc.

After you figure out what you want, there's tons of places to buy.  CCS, The House, Ebay, wherever.  Just do your homework first, it will really pay off in the long run.

(And just because everyone around here is all "Burton rules!", doesn't mean you need to feel pressured to buy a Burton.  Talk to friends, riders at the slopes, online reviews, all that)

Good luck and have a friggin blast!
