  1. I would suggest two things, get superantispyware free edition, download, update and do an in depth scan in safe mode, it great at finding trojans and other c**p, next get(Cleanup) I cleaned a friends computer of 1.5 gig of c**p the other day, you should also have Avira AntiVir free, it will find about 94% of known viruses great program fast scan times., Hope ive helped., Good luck.

  2. A clean computer is key to a faster computer, here are some great scans to do to help your computer.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Microsoft itself!!!

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/ . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware--- http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Pers...

Now lets clean up your disk.

Do a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag. You can find both of them by following the path below.

Start > My Computer > (Right click) on your HD >  Properties > Tools > Defragment > Defragment now  . Let it do its thing. You can check every box that has something to delete.

Now follow the same path and do a Disk Cleanup. Note that if you havent defraged in a while or you have never degraged before, that it will take a while, just be paitent and let it do its thing

Another way to improve your computers preformance is by reducing the graphical settings.

    Heres how!

Start - Control Panel - System - Advanced (tab) - Preformance (Section) - Settings (Button)

you can turn off everything if you want, or just a few things, it removes all the extra stuff to make your interface look pretty, but can be turned off to get better preformance

    Finally turn off indexing.

Click on My Computer>right click on C drive> left click on Properties. Now uncheck allow indexing. A windows pops up, just click Ignore All and then Apply. Let it do its thing.

After applying the suggestions above you will have a clean and faster computer. Enjoy.

  3. If your infected badly, Go to www.avast.com, download 4.8 home edition for free, install it and do the boot scan, after avast cleans the viruses out go to www.spybot.com and install it to remove anything avast missed, next go to www.piriform.com and download CCleaner, run it and let it clean the temp files and cookies and everything out. your pc will then be secure and fast for free.

  4. Wipe it. Get your Operating System CD. Put it in and repartition the drive then format. Fresh install should help everything

  5. Geeksquad, firedog etc are for idiots, to be blunt. Clean it out by re-installing windows, or paying 50 dollars for kaspersky or something.

  6. Format (erase) your computer's hard drive.  You should have a windows disk, put it in the cd drive and reboot, it should ask you if you want to format, and follow the instructions.

  7. If you don't need anything on it, format and reinstall. If you do, then it really depends on what's availible in your area.

  8. You don't even need a professional. All you need are the Operating System disks that came with the computer.

Make sure you have everything that you need to save off the computer and on to some sort of storage device. (Burned CD, USB Drive) Then insert the OS disk and restart the computer booting from the disk drive. The computer will walk you through the setup from here and the process will restore your computer to it's original state when you bought it.

    Good Luck.

  9. Check out www.majorgeeks.com They have great forums and advice, along with links to free downloads of spybot search and destroy, and CCleaner.

2 of the best clean up tools, and they are free! :D
