  1. If you are choosing your dog from the pound you will find that the successful dog is more likely to choose you. Go open minded and make a list of important issues such as health of the dog, past history, age and temperament. Twice before this has happened to me, firstly with my old black lab when I wanted a gsd and my recent boy puppy bearded collie when i wanted a girl! My children got the vote on that one because he definatly chose them. Good Luck

  2. I wish I could help but I can't because I love big dogs.

But I will anyway. I pick Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

  3. I doubt you could find a real Phalène at a pound, but they are by far the calmest and stable dog you will find. You get the ease of care and beauty of a Papillon with a more sedate temperament. I have 6 of them and wouldn't trade them for anything.

  4. i love mutts! get a mixed breed from the pound, then you CAN have them all :)

  5. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

  6. Toy poodle because my family once had one (RIP) and he was really quirky and bubbly!

  7. My favorite dog is a german shepard, one of the most loving, faithful, dependable dogs ever but on your list I would take the yorkshire terrier

  8. im sooo hppy ur saving a life id go 4 a king charles cavvy mi mates got 1 hes lovely a complete lap dog

  9. grrrrr....

  10. I've always loved poodles....

But!  I'd like to recommend that you do a little bit of research on the health & longevity of these different breeds.  If you don't, you might end up getting a breed that is prone to a lot of health problems and that could get costly in the long run.  AND it would be heartbreaking for you in the long run....  My step grandmother had a cocker spaniel and it had lots of health issues as it started to age.  So did my mother's poodles.....  Just make yourself aware of what the little one might be facing down the road.

Mutts are great dogs, too.  I have 3 dogs....all qualify as mutts, even though they have poodle and chichucha in them.  I once had an afgan and he was costly to take care of.

  11. Cavalier - they are super - nice little dogs, and very cute!

  12. All great breeds for various reasons, but the best on your list:

TOY POODLE #2 on the top ten list of smartest dogs

    Here's information on why:  http://www.petmedsonline.org/top-10-smar...

"Yes, the Poodle is at number two.  The standard Poodle is highly intelligent and one of the easiest breeds to train.  They love to be around people, and really hate to be left alone.  Some standard Poodles are good guard dogs, and some can even be trained as hunters!  Overall, Poodles are a sensitive, pleasant and happy breed."

I can't agree more with the above. I had a poodle who lived until 17-1/2 years old, and she was amazing !!
