I am a competitive swimmer turned rec swimmer and I am wondering how intense and long your workouts were during your pregnancy. I am 29 weeks and have cut back to 2000 meters, 3 days a week but I want to do more per workout. --All free, no strokes btw--

  1. While I was in graduate school, pregnancy and exercise were a common topic of discussion.

According to the information a pregnant woman presented, you can exercise as long as you feel comfortable.  There is no negative effect of the fetus from low-intensity exercise.  I'd avoid high intensity exercise (sprinting) as you make yourself more susceptible to joint injury.

So ... enjoy your exercise.  If you want to increase your distance and you're comfortable, go ahead and do so.
