Hey volleyball question?

Why cant you wear hair pins in volleyball. like clips, bobby pins, and hard headbands.

i know. its stupid. but the refs always say that they can fly off and hit someone. i dont know what the h**l they think bobby pics are gunna do. but thats the reason they always give me

rules are rules and it's better that way. in gym class we played volleyball and girl on my team accidentally hit the ball on my head... you have no clue how bad a bobby pin poking into your scalp can hurt...

well you can get hit on the top of your head and it could injure you. also if you may perhaps fall into the net some how, the item in your hair may get caught. now i just wear pre-wrap in my hair or i wear a piece of tape. if you have bangs the tape really keeps your bangs back

It is a safety issue.  

I used to play in a YMCA co-ed league where there was no rule about hard hair clips.  My team mate and I both dove for a ball.  She got the ball up.  I tried to not hit her.  I caught my forearm on the top of her head.  Her hard metal hair clip cut my arm from the wrist to the elbow.  Blood everywhere.  I was very lucky that it really was just a scratch.  It was a long scratch that decided to bleed a lot.  I was done for the night since I could not get the bleeding to stop soon enough to get back into the match.    

And why do you really need a hard clip.  There are many safe alternatives that are just as effective.

They could cut you or bobby pins and clips could fall out of your hair and others could slip on them

Believe it or not hard head bands and hair elastics CAN cut your head open. I fell backwards on my head on a gym floor and my hair was in a ponytail. My elastic was a hard hair elastic and i ended up needing 4 stitches!

It's just a safety thing. I know it is a pain, but it's the rules.
