I will get a/some reptile/s in the future, and I was wondering which ones. I have done a tremendous amount of research, but I'm wondering what people normally get, just for ideas. I am excluding however:

Monitors.

Bearded Dragons

Any thing over three and a half feet long.

I also know about Leopard Geckos, and those are a major possibility.

Thank You, post whatever you want! (If you're wondering why I'm excluding bearded dragons is because I want something more a little less common.)

  1. i have a chineses waterdragon, they get around there feet long(i had mine three years now and she barely three feet long) i found her at petco but im sure u can find one at ur local pet store. i think there not common i never see them around

  2. I just got a baby red eared slider 5 days ago and he's tons of fun! You can also look into other turtles or even tortoises. I went to a local pet store yesterday that sold tortoises and they got to be 1 1/2 feet but they live for around 50 years. Most turtles live a long time as well. You can look into different species of snakes or lizards as well. I work at a nature reserve and we have something called a green snake and they stay pretty small. I'd look into corn snakes and brown snakes as well.

  3. id say blue tongue skink they are pretty rare but you can still find one  they get  up to about a foot and a half nuthin to big  but they are great animals

  4. snakes are kwool i would get the ball python

  5. I have had a lot of luck and fun owning a Plated Lizard. They are curious active lizards. They don't get huge, but big enough to safely handle them. They are active night and day, but do not make much noise. They are not climbers, so a shallow enclosure is fine. I got mine at a local animal shelter for free. They had no idea what it was, or how to take care of it, so they just gave it away to someone who had good reptile expirence (with references). It also helped that I worked there at the time.  He was full grown when we got him, so we have no idea how old he even is.

Also I have always wanted a Uromastix. A coworker has 2, and from what she says they are good pets. Also water dragons can be a choice, but housing requirements are a bit more complex.

Some other options; Collard Lizard, Various Skink species, Ball python (you did not say if you were at all interested in snakes or not), armadillo lizard (i have one also, but they are smaller, and not very handleable), crested gecko (can be hard to take care of).

    - they give live birth

-they dont take up much space
