To compare the Aussie Flag and the NZ flag, you will notice that the stars are red, the southern cross is different.  The Aussie flag has the five stars of the southern cross, NZ only has four.  Theoretically it is like this because you cannot see the fifth star from NZ, which is rubbish coz I am an Aussie living in NZ and I can see the fifth star.
